Done at: IIT Guwahati
Tasks done: Story Boarding, Puppet Making, Design from Waste, Sustainability
Project Description:
Story telling has been a fascinating way of communication since ages and here in this project we explored the tangible way of doing so. This project was done as a part of a story telling workshop Xaadu Kowa conducted by Raja Mohanty, IDC (IIT Bombay) and Puppeteer Chobin Rajakhowa. The idea behind this was workshop was, mastering the art of Story telling, so that it can be used in the Design process.
Story telling using physical models like puppets is fascinating and interesting because it requires proper co-ordination between the hands and the motions have to be controlled offstage.

Final Props used in the research
Research Goals:
It also requires proper co-ordination between the prop and the voice and the key goal to test here is the loss of communication in its transfer form one medium to another. The other research goal was to explore the impact of the communication when done using props as compared to just verbal communication.
Design Process
Done under professional puppeteer, we were also involved in making puppets from waste materials like old socks, torn clothes etc. This way we were able make maximum benefit form unused old items. This was to incorporate the philosophy of designing from re-usability, and recycling waste materials.

Stage for Story telling workshop
The story was also composed by we students ourselves and it was a story which involved the gods and the demons. It was rooted in Indian Mythology. The idea behind this story was to make the children who are the most fascinated by stories, interested in this art of physical story telling.
