I like working as a Design Evangelist through my works as a teacher, mentor, and as a promoter of the value of design amongst colleges and organizations across India. My approach is firmly grounded in applying the principles of Design Thinking to Problem Solving, Team Management, Design Consulting, Entrepreneurship and Innovation.
I am available for Design Consultation, conduct Design workshops in your organization, and also to teach as a visiting faculty in Design colleges. I am based out of Bangalore and am often traveling around for talks and workshops.
This talk I recently gave, covers my interest in the above.
My Work and Educational Background
Presently I serve as the Program Director and Head of Operations of India Studio of the French Design school L’École de design, Nantes-Atlantique in Bangalore.
I also run a Design Consulting company called Happy Horizons Consulting, based out of Bangalore. Prior to these activities I lead the Design team at a Social Technology company, Kuliza Technologies, in Bangalore, and earlier to that I had co-founded a Design startup, Deskala. I have also been consulting for and mentoring different startups in India, apart from being a freelance photographer, Visiting Faculty to Design schools, and a contributing author to different online forums.
In the past I have been invited for talks at corporates houses like Mindtree, Infosys, Regalix, and at events such as TEDx talks, IGNITE talks, for sharing my views on the above.
I am a regular speaker at conferences and I speak on User Experience Design, Photography, Social Entrepreneurship and Design for Social Impact.
I did my masters in Human Computer Interaction Design from Indiana University, Bloomington and my Bachelor of Design from Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati. As a Design Consultant, I have worked with large corporations like Infosys and Motorola and then at startups in India as a Design Consultant.
I have also been doing photography for the past 10 years, and published images on cover of books by Penguin India, Beyond Profit magazine, and Hindustan Times online. Amongst the critically acclaimed photo-documentaries done by me are the “Promotion of Child Education in Bihar” and “25 years of the Bhopal Gas Tragedy”. I enjoy shooting documentary style portraits, cultures of the world and street life.
More information about my Photography can be found on my other startup website Happy Horizon Studios. I have conducted photography workshops across India on Light Painting and basic Photography.
I am a Managing Trustee of the non-profit organization Happy Horizons Trust, and we run a project in Bihar to promote the quality in child education in rural Bihar. The project Pick Me, Click Me, Educate Me! aims at promoting activities in schools that will increase the motivation of the students to attend the schools.
